Castle Siege Guide
Last Updated:September 20, 2024|Change Log
Castle Siege is the largest PvP content in Throne and Liberty where guilds and alliances compete against one another to seize the throne in Stonegard Castle. Various siege elements are available to the defending and attacking guilds to help them win the fight such as Golems, Gigantrite, hidden castle entry points, and respawn points.
The winner of the Castle Siege receives a portion of the accumulated Siege Tax that can be distributed to the winning guild and their alliance members. The castle-owning guild also manages the castle, when certain items can be purchased, and tax rates.
Siege Schedule and Stages
Preparation Stage
The Castle Siege event starts at 21:00 (9:00 p.m.) server time and lasts a total of 60 minutes, with an additional 3 minutes of overtime allowed. The preparation phase of the Castle Siege starts at 21:00 and ends at 21:15. During this time guilds can finalize their strategies before PvP is enabled. All NPCs in the castle disappear so make sure to purchase what you need before the preparation phase. Be careful not to travel too far into the Castle Siege zone or else you are ported out of the event area when PvP is enabled.
Siege PvP Stage
PvP is enabled at 21:15 and this is when the Siege fight officially begins. When Siege begins, all guilds will have from 21:15 to 22:00 to win. Alliance members of the castle-owning guild are transported inside the castle and can't leave for 5 seconds once Siege begins. If the Throne is not contested when the Siege timer runs out, the event immediately ends and the current castle-owners win.
Overtime Stage
If the Throne is contested, an additional 3 minutes is allotted for the fight to continue. The current castle-owning alliance wins if the attacking side fails to capture the throne at the end of the additional 3 minutes.
Siege Rewards
The Lucent and Sollant rewards reserved for Castle Siege is 40% of the Stonegard Castle Vault. The total amount changes based on the amount of Lucent and Sollant pillaged during the Siege. The final reward given to the winning side are accumulated based on the total amount of Lucent and Sollant pillaged from the Stonegard Castle Vault at a 5:5 ratio.
You do not have to win the Siege to receive Lucent and Sollant rewards. If your guild captures one or more of the four Pillage Points, you can steal Lucent and Sollant from the Castle Vault. To steal using the Pillage Points you have to be holding the point at every 5 minute mark that passes from the start of Siege. So if you do not hold the point at every 5 minute that passes you do not steal any Sollant or Lucent.
Siege Ruins
Four Siege Ruins are scattered outside the castle walls, which are identified on the World Map and Minimap. Siege Ruins are only capturable by players with a Guardian rank or higher in a Defending or Attacking guild.
- It takes 5 seconds to capture a Siege Ruin and the capture can be interrupted by any CC that stops your actions.
- Once captured, they are used as a teleportation and resurrection stone for your guild, as well as a summoning Seal Stone for the Siege Golem frozen in a petrified state nearby.
- The castle-owning guild can capture the Siege Ruins, but they cannot summon Siege Golems. Only their allied guilds are permitted.
- If you are an attacking guild, you do not have to worry about the defending guilds taking Siege Ruins at the start of Siege because they are all forcibly teleported inside the castle walls once Siege begins and can not leave until 5 seconds after PvP starts.
- Siege Ruins are strategically located closer to attacking guilds, providing them a great advantage to capture them all first and summon each Siege Golem.
Siege Golems
There are a total of four golems that are summonable by guilds who have captured a Siege Ruin. Each Golem is piloted by a player and is summoned by using a Golem Slate purchasable from the Guild Supplies Merchant located in your Guild Base. Make sure you buy multiple so you don't run out during Siege. The Stone Crasher Golem is located at Siege Ruins 3. The Battle Carrier and Gate Hammer Golems are both located at Siege Ruins 2, and the Jump Attacker Golem is located at Siege Ruins 4.
Stone Crasher
The Stone Crasher Golem located at Siege Ruins 3 is summonable 5 minutes after Siege PvP begins and multiple times throughout the fight. This golem's abilities specialize in vacuuming up enemies and pulling them off of walls, as well as destroying castle walls, castle towers, and gates. The Stone Crasher Golem summon lasts for 5 minutes before despawning.
Battle Carrier
The Battle Carrier Golem located at Siege Ruins 2 can be summoned immediately when Siege PvP begins. This golem is solely used to transport players over the castle walls. The Battle Carrier Golem summon lasts for 5 minutes before despawning.
Gate Hammer
The Gate Hammer Golem located at Siege Ruins 2 serves a similar purpose to the Stone Crasher Golem, but instead, it operates from a distance. The Gate Hammer Golem uses lava infused attacks to deal massive damage to castle gates, walls, and towers from a distance. The explosion damage from the Golem can deal decent damage to players and it also has a Damage Reduction buff that is applied to itself and surrounding guildmates for 10 seconds.
Jump Attacker
The Jump Attacker Golem located at Siege Ruins 4 is the only Golem that specializes in attacking enemy players. The attacks from this golem are infused with electricity which means it spreads when it rains similar to electric-based abilities on the Staff. The Jump Attacker Golem also has a ten second Evasion buff that is applied to itself and surrounding guildmates for 10 seconds.
Pillage and Resurrection Stones
- There are 5 Pillage Stones and 3 Resurrection Stones in Siege. These Stones can be captured by anyone in a guild regardless of their guild rank, however, if you have a Guardian rank or higher you capture these Stones quicker.
- Capturing Pillage Stones allows your guild to steal Lucent and Sollant from the Castle Tax Vault at 5-minute intervals based on the Siege timer. Pillage Stones cannot be captured by the castle-owning guild. Their allied guilds are allowed to capture them. As long as your guild holds the Pillage Stone at the 5-minute interval, you steal Lucent and Sollant from the Vault. So if it's taken from you right before the 5-minute interval, you do not steal anything.
- Capturing Resurrection Stones allows your guild to resurrect at them when they die. Resurrection Stones can be captured by the castle-owning guild and operate similarly to the default resurrection points. They have a countdown timer until everyone can mass respawn.
Throne Room
The fight in the Throne Room is the most important part of the Siege. The guild leader of an attacking guild must interact with the Throne inside the Castle Stronghold to enter a capturing state. While in the capturing state, the guild leader transforms into a large knight called a Usurper. As a Usurper, you become tankier and harder to kill based on the total number of allies surrounding you. You must survive for 3-minutes within the capture zone inside the Throne Room to take over the castle. If you leave the throne capture zone or die, you lose your transformation. You cannot morph while transformed into a Usurper.
The guild that holds the Throne at the end of the siege wins. If there are multiple enemy guilds with capture contribution for the Throne, the Siege goes into a 3-minute overtime.
Siege Environmental Elements
Throughout the Siege map, there are various environmental elements that players can interact with to organize strategic ambushes or counterplays to stop their enemies from entering the castle.
Sewers
There are two ways players can access the Castle Sewage System which allows them to gain entry inside the castle and summon guild members for a sneaky ambush. However, only players with daggers can use Shadow Strike on a rat to get past the metal bars in the sewers and sneak into the castle.
Sewage Access Point 1: The External Sewage entrance is located on the east side of the castle outside of the outer wall.
Sewage Access Point 2: The Internal Sewage entrance is located inside the castle in the southwest area, right outside of the innermost wall. This sewage gets you right in front of the Throne Room.
External Door Levers
There are two levers located on top of the Outer Gate. Both Levers must be used at the same time if players want to open or close the Outer Gate. Anyone can operate these levers.
East Outer Gate and Inner Gate Levers
On the east side of the castle, there are two gates. One of the gates is an Outer Gate and the other is an Inner Gate. Both Levers for their respective gates must be used simultaneously to open or close the gate.
Summary
- Make sure to purchase multiple of each Golem Slate to ensure those of Guardian rank or higher can summon Golems.
- If you are an attacking guild, coordinate with your allies to pre-assign who is taking control of which Golems and capturing their respective Siege Ruins.
- Holding a Pillage Stone right before a 5-minute interval is important to ensure your guild steals Lucent and Sollant from the Castle Vault.
- Whoever holds the Throne at the end of Siege is the winner.
