Gear Progression Guide

Introduction

Gear Progression in Lost Ark is divided into exact item level thresholds. Characters have to reach these thresholds to become eligible for advancement to further continents and item tiers. This article showcases the path of progression through each item level threshold.

Tier Progression

Tier 1 & 2 Early Game
Tier 3 Mid Game
Tier 3 End Game

Item Level 250 (North Vern)

Item Level 500 (North Vern)

  • Complete Chaos Dungeons "North Vern Echo Level 1" and obtain a full Item Level 500 Providence gear set.
  • Unlock access to Abyssal Dungeons and the Shushire continent by completing the North Vern Main Story quest line.
  • (Optional): Complete Abyssal Dungeons: Demon Beast Canyon and Necromancer's Origin.

Item Level 635 (Rohendel)

  • Upgrade your gear set to +3 average.
  • Finish the quest [Guide] Guides: Rohendel to unlock the Western Sea and the Rohendel continent.
  • Sail to Rohendel and finish the Main Story quest line to gain access to Chaos Dungeons and Abyssal Dungeons.
  • (Optional): Complete Abyssal Dungeons: Hall of the Twisted Warlord and Hildebrandt Palace

Item Level 805 (Yorn)

  • Upgrade your gear set to +7 average.
  • Finish the quest [Guide] Guides: Yorn to unlock the Yorn Continent.
  • Sail to Yorn and finish the Main Story quest line to gain access to Chaos Dungeons and Abyssal Dungeons.
  • Transition into Yorn Chaos Dungeons "Earth Level 1" and above for your daily materials.
  • (Optional): Complete Abyssal Dungeons: Road of Lament and Forge of Fallen Pride.

Item Level 960 (Feiton)

  • Upgrade your gear set to +11 average.
  • Finish the quest [Guide] Guides: Feiton to unlock the Feiton continent.
  • Sail to Feiton and finish the Main Story quest line to gain access to Chaos Dungeons and Abyssal Dungeons.
  • Transition into Feiton Chaos Dungeons "Shadow Level 1" and above for your daily materials.
  • (Optional): Complete Abyssal Dungeons: Sea of Indolence, Tranquil Karkosa and Alaric’s Sanctuary.

Item Level 1100 (Punika)

  • Upgrade your gear set to +15 average.
  • Finish the quest [Guide] Guides: Punika to unlock the Punika Continent.
  • Sail to Punika and finish the Main Story quest line to gain access to Chaos Dungeons and Abyssal Dungeons.
  • Complete Chaos Dungeons "Punika Star Level 1" and obtain a full Item Level 1250 Dimensional gear set.
  • Transfer your current +15 gear onto the Dimensional set at the Gear Honing NPC using the "Gear Transfer" function for a free +1 upgrade.
  • Welcome to tier 3!

Item Level 1325

  • Upgrade your Dimensional set set to +4 average.
  • Complete Punika Chaos Dungeons "Moon Level 1" and above for your daily materials.
  • Optional: research "Increase Tier 2 Honing Success Rate" in your Stronghold if you plan to raise alts.
  • Optional: research "Reduce Required XP for Tier 2 Honing" in your Stronghold if you plan to raise alts.

Item Level 1340

  • Upgrade your Dimensional set set to +5 average.
  • Complete Abyssal Dungeons: Oreha Preveza and Aira's Oculus on Normal mode.
  • Craft the Erupting Waves Set at the Craft Abyss Equipment NPC.
  • Transfer your epic set over to the Erupting Waves Set at the Gear Honing NPC using the "Gear Transfer" function.

Item Level 1370

  • Upgrade your Dimensional set set to +7 average.
  • Complete Abyssal Dungeons: Aira’s Oculus and Oreha Preveza on Hard mode
  • Complete Abyss Raid: Argos.
  • Transfer your epic set into the Erupting Waves Set or Piercing Gaze Set.

Item Level 1385

  • Upgrade your Dimensional set set to +8 average.
  • Transfer your epic set into the Erupting Waves Set or Piercing Gaze Set.
  • Optional: research "Tier 3 Honing Success Rate +1" in your Stronghold if you plan to raise alts.
  • Optional: research "Tier 3 Required XP for Honing -1" in your Stronghold if you plan to raise alts.

Item Level 1415

  • Upgrade your Dimensional set set to +10 average.
  • Complete gate 1 & 2 ofLegion Raid: Valtan [Normal Mode].
  • Craft the Relic Valtan gear set of your choice at the Legion Commander Gear Crafting NPC. Check your class build guide for more information about which set to craft.
  • Transfer the Relic Valtan gear set over your legendary set at the Gear Honing NPC using the "Gear Transfer" function.

Item Level 1430

  • Upgrade your gear set to +11 average.
  • Complete gate 1 & 2 of Legion Raid: Valtan [Normal Mode].
  • Transfer your legendary set into the relic Valtan & Vykas sets of your choice. Check your class build guide for more information about which set to craft.

Item Level 1445

  • Upgrade your gear set to +12 average.
  • Legion Raid: Valtan [Hard Mode] becomes available.
  • Transfer your legendary set into the relic Valtan & Vykas sets.

Item Level 1460

  • Upgrade your gear set to +13 average.
  • Legion Raid: Vykas [Hard Mode] becomes available.
  • Finish the quest [Guide] Guides: Elgacia to unlock access to the Elgacia continent.
  • Speak to "Solar Knight Rahel", an NPC in Vern Castle to receive the "Paradise of the Dreamless" quest to start exploring Elgacia.
  • Research "Tier 3 Honing Success Rate" in your Stronghold if you plan to raise alts.
  • Research "Tier 3 Required XP for Honing" in your Stronghold if you plan to raise alts.

Item Level 1475

  • Upgrade your gear set to +14 average.
  • CompleteLegion Raid: Kakul-Saydon
  • This raid provides Mayhem Horns.
    • (Optional): Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you have a full level 2 set)
  • Upgrade your current relic set to level 2 at the Set Gear Manager NPC.
    • If you plan to reach item level 1540 quickly, you may skip this step and upgrade your set to level 3 with materials obtained from the Kayangel abyssal dungeons instead.

Item Level 1490

  • Upgrade your gear set to +15 average.
  • You unlock access toLegion Raid: Brelshaza [Normal Mode] gate 1-2, complete it!
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you have a full ancient set)
  • You acquire Phantom Intentions as a reward.
  • Open your First Clear Box.
  • Craft your ancient (1390) set at the Legion Commander Gear Crafting NPC.
  • Transfer the ancient set over your relic set at the Gear Honing NPC using the "Gear Transfer" function.
  • You will receive your old relic set back at +0, this piece can be salvaged for Valtan/Vykas crafting materials.
  • Stop honing your relic set and leave it at +15!
  • Start honing your transferred ancient pieces instead.

Item Level 1500

  • Complete gate 1-3 ofLegion Raid: Brelshaza [Normal Mode].
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you have a full ancient set)
  • Craft your ancient set at the Legion Commander Gear Crafting NPC.
  • Transfer the ancient set over your relic set at the Gear Honing NPC using the "Gear Transfer" function.

Item Level 1520

  • Complete gate 1-4 ofLegion Raid: Brelshaza [Normal Mode].
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you have a full ancient set)
  • Craft your ancient set at the Legion Commander Gear Crafting NPC.
  • Transfer the ancient set over your relic set at the Gear Honing NPC using the "Gear Transfer" function.

Item Level 1540

  • Gate 1-2 ofLegion Raid: Brelshaza [Hard Mode] becomes available.
  • You unlock access to Abyssal Dungeon: Kayangel [Normal Mode] gates 1-3, complete it!
  • Kayangel provides Empyrean of Contemplations, these can be used to upgrade your gear set to level 3 at the Set Gear Manager NPC
  • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you have a full level 3 set)

Item Level 1550

  • Gate 3 ofLegion Raid: Brelshaza [Hard Mode] becomes available.

Item Level 1560

  • Gate 4 ofLegion Raid: Brelshaza [Hard Mode] becomes available.

Item Level 1580

  • Abyssal Dungeon: Kayangel [Hard Mode] becomes available.
  • You unlock access to Legion Raid: Akkan [Normal Mode], complete it!
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you have a full upper ancient set)
  • Akkan provides the Eyes of Decay crafting material.
  • Craft upper level ancient (1525) gear at the Legion Commander Gear Crafting NPC.
  • Transfer the Akkan upper ancient set over your Brelshaza ancient gear at the Gear Honing NPC using the "Gear Transfer" function.
  • You will receive your old ancient set back at +0, this piece can be salvaged for Brelshaza crafting materials.

Item Level 1600

  • Legion Raid: Akkan [Hard Mode], becomes available.
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you have a full ancient set)
  • Abyssal Dungeon: Trampled Garden [Normal Mode], becomes available.
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box if you want to craft extra Elixirs.
  • Craft upper level ancient (1525) gear at the Legion Commander Gear Crafting NPC.
  • Transfer the Akkan upper ancient set over your Brelshaza ancient gear at the Gear Honing NPC using the "Gear Transfer" function.
  • Craft Splendid Elixir of Wisdom at the Transmute Elixir and Crafting NPC
    • Max out the most important stat to level 5 for each armor part initially, e.g. Boss Damage, Crit Damage, Set Effect. For more info, visit the Elixir System Guide.

Item Level 1610

  • Legion Raid: Thaemine [Normal Mode], becomes available.
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you've achieved a Transcendence level you're satisfied with).
  • New Level Requirement! Abyssal Dungeon: Trampled Garden [Hard Mode], becomes available.
  • Craft Splendid Elixir of Wisdom at the Transmute Elixir and Crafting NPC
    • Max out the most significant stat to level 5 for each armor part initially e.g. Boss Damage, Crit Damage, Set Effect and work on improving the rest slowly. For more info visit the Elixir System Guide.

Item Level 1620

Echidna & Behemoth now grant Tier 4 Materials!

  • Kazeros Raid: Echidna [Normal Mode], becomes available.
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you've achieved an Advanced Honing level you're satisfied with).
  • Epic Raid: Behemoth, becomes available.
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop when you've achieved max Weapon Transcendence level).
  • New Level Requirement!Legion Raid: Thaemine [Hard Mode], becomes available.
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you've achieved a Transcendence level you're satisfied with).

Item Level 1630

  • Kazeros Raid: Echidna [Hard Mode], becomes available.
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you've achieved an Advanced Honing level you're satisfied with).

Item Level 1620

  • Finish the requirements for[Guide] Guides: North Kurzan to unlock the North Kurzan Continent.
  • Head to North Kurzan through Elnead and finish the Main Story quest line to gain access to the Kazeros War Map.
  • Complete the Kinuat Fortress to obtain a full Item Level 1590 Relic Tier 4 gear set.
    • Stop doing Kinuat Fortress once you've obtained all Relic Tier 4 pieces.
  • Transfer your current Tier 3 gear onto the Tier 4 Relic gear at the Gear Honing NPC using the "Gear Transfer" function to soft reset your enhancement level, gaining +20 item levels as a result.

Welcome to Tier 4!

  • New! Ark Passive System becomes available. This will replace the Tier 3 system for most characters from ilvl 1660 onwards, once enough Enlightenment & Evolution Points are reached.
  • Echidna & Behemoth now grant Tier 4 Materials!
  • Kazeros Raid: Echidna [Normal Mode], becomes available.
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you've achieved an Advanced Honing level you're satisfied with).
  • Epic Raid: Behemoth, becomes available.

Item Level 1640

  • New! Complete the Abidos 1 Operation (Kurzan Front) for your daily materials.
  • New! Guardian Argeos becomes available, clear him daily for materials.
  • New! Ebony Cube Tier 4 [1st Unlock] becomes available.

Item Level 1660

  • New!Kazeros Raid: Aegir [Normal Mode], becomes available on October 23.
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you've crafted a full set of Tier 4 Ancient gear).
  • New! Complete the Abidos 2 Operation (Chaos Dungeon) for your daily materials.

Item Level 1680

  • New!Kazeros Raid: Aegir [Hard Mode], becomes available on October 23.
    • Purchase the Extra Reward box after each gate. (Stop buying when you've crafted a full set of Tier 4 Ancient gear).

Tips & Tricks

  • Always complete the highest accessible Chaos Dungeons and Guardian Raids to not fall behind in progression.
  • Utilize: Chaos Line (South Vern, Bellion Ruins), Tower, Thronespire, Cube and in game events to gain an accelerated growth through extra materials.

Summary

  • Transfer into powerful Abyssal Dungeon,Abyss Raid and Legion Raid sets for more damage and survivability.

  • Upgrade your gear set to level 2 with Kakul-Saydons Mayhem Horns.
    • This step can be skipped if you have access to Kayangel, you may start with level 3 instantly.
  • Upgrade your gear set to level 3 with Kayangel Empyrean of Contemplations.
