How to Find all 3 Light Greatswords

Last Updated:July 4, 2024|Change Log

Light Greatswords are a new class of weapon added in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. They blend the sweeping strikes of a regular Greatsword with the precise stabs of a Thrusting Sword. There are currently 3 weapons within this class, Milady, Rellana's Twin Blades and Leda's Sword.

You can obtain Milady almost immediately after entering the Realm of Shadow but the others take a bit more work to find. These weapons scale off of several stats including Dexterity, Strength, Intelligence and Faith. Light Greatswords are a versatile class of weapon fully capable of taking down all the content Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree has to offer.

The Light Greatswords have long flowing combos which make them excellent in both single combat and against multiple foes. Their light attack combo extends for up to 6 hits and most of the heavier attacks multi-hit, making the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia an excellent talisman. Generally these weapons are medium range, but Rellana's Twin Blades and Leda's Sword have Ashes of War which enable you to strike from a considerable distance.

Milady begins with the Impaling Thrust Ash of War but it's also compatible with the Light Greatsword exclusive Wing Stance Ash of War. On the other hand, Leda's Sword comes with her signature Ash of War Needle Piercer and Rellana's Twin Blades has Moon-and-Fire Stance.

Milady

Milady is a faster more agile weapon whose move set draws inspiration from both Greatswords and Thrusting Swords, it's found in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. This Dexterity/Strength weapon is obtained shortly after you enter the DLC and comes with the Ash of War Impaling Thrust. It boasts a formidable 6 hit combo allowing you to keep the pressure up against weaker foes.

Milady Location

As soon as you enter the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC you can easily obtain Milady. Find your weapon in the western tower of Castle Ensis. You don't need to defeat any enemies to collect the weapon as it's found in a treasure chest at the top of the tower. There are however, some optional fights which make the weapon easier to collect.

  • Start from the Castle Front Site of Grace and head across the bridge.
  • Head up the stairs and take a left until you find the western tower.
    • A spear wielding Messmer Soldier with a dog guard the stairs, you can run past them but it's safest to defeat them.
    • At the top of the stairs turn right and climb the Ladder.
  • You find Milady in the chest at the top of the tower.

Wing Stance Location

To make your Milady shine, you need the Light Great Sword exclusive Ash of War; Wing Stance. This is found by exploring Castle Ensis, shortly before you reach the boss. While there aren't any fights required to obtain the Wing Stance, but having the ability to defeat enemies in Castle Ensis makes this much easier.

  • Start from the Castle-Lord's Chamber Site of Grace.
  • Turn around and exit the room onto the balcony then jump down the cliff face to the right.
    • Enter the tower and climb to the top
  • You find Wing Stance in the chest at the top of the tower.

Milady Scaling

Milady is a Standard/Pierce weapon with 284 base physical damage at +25. It requires 12 Str and 17 Dex meaning the damage scales more heavily off of Dex than Str when enhanced resulting in D rank Str scaling and C rank Dex scaling.

This is a regular weapon so it can be infused to change the element or use a different Ash of War. Swapping the damage type with an elemental infusion allows you to take advantage of enemy weaknesses. Infusions also open the weapon up to Intelligence or Faith builds through additional scaling vectors. The Light Greatsword exclusive Ash of War Wing Stance is incredibly powerful with this weapon! Hold L2 then press R1 to unleash a spinning 3-hit strike or hold L2 then press R2 to leap into the air slamming your blade down upon foes.

The light attack is a series of 6 strikes which mix thrusts and slashes. Meanwhile both the heavy attack and jump attack are two-hit combos. The Light Greatsword attacks are quite fast making them easy to weave between boss abilities. Light Greatswords have one of the best guard counters in the game! Block an enemy attack then retaliate with a free heavy attack, this double hits, inflicts high damage and deals significant poise damage.

Rellana's Twin Blades

Rellana's Twin Blades are a remembrance weapon obtained by defeating Rellana, Twin Moon Knight in Castle Ensis. This Dexterity/Strength/Intelligence/Faith weapon is best thought of as two separate weapons, one of which is Dex/Int/Str and the other being Dex/Fai/Str. This is because the Ash of War, Moon-and-Fire Stance uses separate scaling for the Magic stance (L2+R1) and the Fire stance (L2+R2). This makes the weapon tricky to min-max.

Rellana's Twin Blades Location

Reaching Rellana, Twin Moon Knight is only half the battle, to learn tips and tricks for defeating her check the next section.

  • Start from the Castle Ensis Checkpoint Site of Grace after opening the main castle gate.
  • Head through the gate to your left and across the bridge.
    • Proceed up through the castle until you encounter Moonrithyll, Carian Knight.
    • Defeat her, or run past through the cathedral entrance to the right.
  • Continue through the castle and onto the battlements, then follow the linear path to the lift guarded by a Black Knight.
    • Take the lift up and activate the Castle-Lord's Chamber Site of Grace, you find Rellana in the adjacent Moongazing Grounds.
  • After defeating Rellana, speak to Finger Reader Enia in Roundtable Hold to turn the Remembrance in for your weapon.

Rellana, Twin Moon Knight Tips and Tricks

  • Rellana likes to combo slashes into thrusts, if you roll directly away from her to avoid the slash the thrust catches you as soon as you stand up. Instead roll to the side to avoid the slash and give you a chance to dodge the thrust.
  • When she casts Carian Grandeur and summons a colossal greatsword of magic energy you need to be ready to dodge two strikes.
    • The first is a slash dodge to the side.
    • She follows this with a sweeping strike, this takes a bit longer than you might expect and hits like a truck, so time things correctly to avoid damage.
  • As her health gets lower, Rellana begins using the Moon-and-Fire-Stance on her twin blades.
    • The most dangerous Fire Stance moves involves her channeling tornadoes of fire around herself, move away to avoid being immolated.
    • Alternatively, when she swaps to Moon Stance and fires a volley of magical projectiles you need careful timing to avoid the slashes, run away from her to give yourself more time to dodge the later strikes.
  • Rellana's most lethal move is her Twin Moons Sorcery. She summons two moons which crash into the ground then she crashes into the arena dealing damage. This is quite easy to avoid, simply jump before each moon impacts then jump one more time before Rellana lands.

Rellana's Twin Blades Scaling

It's best to think of Rellana's Twin Blades as two separate weapons. The right sword is infused with magic, representing Rellana's Carian bloodline. The left blade burns with Messmer's flame, a symbol of her allegiance to his cause.

This is a Somber weapon so it cannot be infused to use a different Ash of War. The Ash of War it comes with is Moon-and-Fire-Stance. Hold L2 to enter the stance then press R1 to unleash a barrage of magic crescents or press R2 to turn your location into a fiery tornado.

Your physical damage scales best with Dexterity and Strength, but the Magic and Fire portions of the weapon are more esoteric. The Moon Stance scales with Intelligence and the Fire Stance scales with Faith! Therefore, to min-max this weapon while actively using both stances you need high Faith and Intelligence. Alternatively, you can only use one sword and treat it as a Fai/Dex/Str or Int/Dex/Str weapon.

When wielding one blade, the move set is the same as Milady. However, this is a twinned weapon and the move set changes while wielding both blades. Your light attack become a mix of cross slashes and double stabs for a 5 hit combo. The heavy attack remains the same whereas the jump attack becomes a single thrust with the right blade.

Leda's Sword

Leda's Sword is a Light Greatsword has an excellent move set and unique Ash of War. This Dexterity/Faith/Strength weapon is found after defeating Needle Knight Leda in Enir-Ilim. To access the weapon you need to progress the main story by defeating both Messmer and Romina, Saint of the Bud.

Leda's Sword Location

  • Explore Enir-Ilim starting from the Spiral Rise Site of Grace.
  • Continue up the spiral by using rooftops and staircases until you reach the Cleansing Chamber Anteroom Site of Grace.
  • When you reach a large open chamber with a figure in the distance, trigger the cutscene then touch the red Invasion Sign to engage in battle with Needle Knight Leda and her allies.

Needle Knight Leda Tips and Tricks

  • You must fight against Needle Knight Leda and Dryleaf Dane, but several other NPCs can appear either as enemies or allies depending on which questlines you completed.
    • Touch the golden summoning signs before the battle to summon the friendly NPCs.
    • Try to eliminate Dryleaf Dane as soon as he appears, his mobility makes him lethal.
  • Use a spirit ash summon like Black Knife Tiche or Mimic Tear do distract your enemies and allow you to focus on a single combatant.
  • When your opponent tries to drink this is a great time to punish them or take a drink and heal up.

Leda's Sword Scaling

Leda's Sword is perfect for a Dex/Faith build as you have 247 Physical and 149 Holy damage at +10. Investing into Faith also scales the Ash of war allowing you to deal damage up close or from a safe distance. The weapon has B rank Dex scaling but you want to focus on Faith to enhance the Ash of War.

This is a Somber weapon so it cannot be infused to use a different Ash of War. The Ash of War it comes with is Needle Piercer. Press L2 to summon golden blades around your target which then impale it from all sides. The damage from this Ash of War is quite focused making it an excellent choice for single target damage against Holy-weak enemies. Furthermore it removes buffs and debuffs from enemies it damages. This makes it incredibly powerful. Stripping buffs completely trivializes certain enemies and removing debuffs allows you to quickly re-proc statuses to maximize your damage.
