Path of Exile 2 Crossplay and Split Screen Co-Op

Last Updated:August 27, 2024

Path of Exile 2 is significantly more console friendly than the original game, this includes Crossplay support, local split screen co-op, and new quality of life features. Consoles are a big focus in the development of Path of Exile 2 as GGG attempts to reach new audiences with the title.

While not yet confirmed to be in PoE 2, GGG also said they would like to add hot swapping between using a Controller or Keyboard/Mouse control schemes.

Crossplay

The game has full crossplay and cross progression. You can start a character on PC and then move to your Xbox Series or PlayStation 5. When Early Access arrives in November, it's coming to Consoles in addition to PC and Mac. This is a huge departure from the original Path of Exile! It also means you can expect Leagues and patches to come out simultaneously on PC, Mac, and Console.

Split Screen Co-Op

Path of Exile 2 supports couch co-op, where 2 players can play the game through one device, on one screen. There are special panel versions of all the menus so that you can manage your inventory without cluttering another player's screen.

  • To play couch co-op just log in as normal.
    • Then have your friend log in as a guest.
    • Or log in using their own account to access all of their characters and MTX.

Summary

Path of Exile 2 has full console support including crossplay, cross progression, and even local split screen co-op! GGG has put significant time into testing controller support for PoE 2 to ensure it's a good experience. The full cross progression means Path of Exile 2's content releases simultaneously on all platforms.
