Fishing is something to do in your downtime. You can acquire amazing cooking materials through fishing but it doesn't directly contribute toward your gear progression. This Fishing Guide teaches you how to fish and where to get better fishing rods.

Fishing Basics

  1. Equip any Fishing Rod into this slot like Bamboo Fishing Rod.
  2. Equip any bait.
    • Paste Bait
      • You get 50 daily from the Contract Coin Merchant.
    • Bait Worm
    • Bait Shrimp
    • Bait Fish Fillet
      • Dissolve fish.

Steps to Fish

  1. Have your fishing rod out by clicking it and having bait on.
  2. Have the blue indicator on any body of water and then press "F."
  3. Once a fish has been caught, two stamina bars appear.
    • The fish's stamina bar is orange.
    • You have a green stamina bar.
  4. In the direction that the fish is moving, pull the rod in the opposite direction to deplete the fish's stamina.
  5. Stop pulling left or right for a second to recover your stamina.
  6. Repeat until the fish is caught.

How to Get Fishing Rods

There are two ways to acquire better fishing rods.

    • Chance to acquire Platinum Fishing Rod
  2. Daybreak Shore Expedition Pouch
    • Kraken Fishing Rod
  3. Conquest Participation Award: Tevent
    • Tevent Fishing Rod
  4. Crafting
    • All these recipes require Nature's Jade.
      • Recipe: Steel Fishing Rod
      • Recipe: Monster Bone Fishing Rod
    • Nature's Jade is acquired from Small Sack and Big Sack that you get from fishing.

Rare Fish Sources

Most rare fish come from fishing in unique spots or under certain conditions. Hints for these locations and conditions are given in the description of the fish.

Ocean Fish (Credits: EpicMadness)

These fish drop in ocean waters. They may take higher Fishing Levels to acquire.

  • Ballan Wrasse
    • Lives in rocky areas.
  • Barracuda
    • Lives in warm, clear waters.
  • Blacktail Snook
    • Found in oceans with warmer climates.
  • Amberjack
    • It lives in waters in temperate climates.
  • Taion Moray Eel
    • It lives in schools near reefs in shallow waters, especially coral reefs.

Freshwater Fish (Credits: EpicMadness)

These fish drop in freshwater bodies, so ponds, rivers, etc. They may take higher Fishing Levels to acquire.

  • Fonsiné Barracuda
    • Native to the Fonsiné River in Belphoret.
  • Imp Catalupa
    • It is found in lakes and rivers in areas with warm water temperatures.
  • Pajama Cardinalfish
    • It lives in freshwater bodies.
  • Arowana
    • It lives in freshwater with warm water temperatures.
  • Solisium Carp
    • It lives in freshwater and is known to be quite difficult to catch.
  • Lanquis Barracuda
    • It's native to the rivers of Lanquis, but is currently found in freshwater throughout Solisium.
  • Banded Butterflyfish
    • It lives in coral reefs and is usually only active during the day.
