Carino Lethal Flash Leveling Guide
Last Updated:July 4, 2024|Change Log
Welcome to the Carino Lethal Flash Leveling Guide. Carino's Lethal Flash trait is all about Shotgun Effect, which means you want to combine him with Projectile Skills like Split Arrow. At level 62 he gains access to Evil Ouroboros enabling Return. This doubles the damage of your Projectile Skills because the projectiles hit enemies when fired, and then a second time while returning. As a result of the Shotgun Effect, Lethal Flash often plays from melee range. Many of Lethal Flash's Hero Traits bolster Projectile Spells in addition to Ranged Attacks.
Projectile Spell builds, primarily Split Firebolt are fantastic on Lethal Flash Carino. Unfortunately you do not have access to the correct weapon types or skill gems during the leveling process to use these builds before reaching the Netherrealm. This leveling build uses Arrow Einherjar as it is an incredibly powerful skill that dominates the early game despite not taking advantage of all the Hero Traits Lethal Flash has to offer.
The leveling guide is intended to take your character to Level 90. This is the last level with unlimited free respec points. Be sure to check the final section of the guide for recommendations on how to transition into the Endgame! |
- Smooth progression
- High Clear Speed
- Diverse Endgame Character
- Shotgun vs Single Target
- Multiple Buffs to Maintain
- Gear Reliant from Troves
Check out the Complete Story Walkthrough for tips on how to complete the Campaign.
Treasure Troves
Treasure Troves are a way to super-charge your leveling experience. They give vastly more experience than regular zones and yield exclusive Legendary items. You need to complete each of them once for a Talent Point. For an easier leveling experience, you repeat the Treasure Trove until you're 8-10 levels above the zone, then rush through the next few areas. Follow your side quest to find the Treasure Trove locations.
Keep an eye out for the following Legendary items as you clear Treasure Troves.
- New Ear Hills (L7): Look out for Pentagram Astrolabe, Lonesome and Glorious Journey.
- Nectar Valley (L16): Look out for Boor's Iron Crown, and Phantasm.
- Dawn Avenue (L27): Look out for Phantasm, Plain Echo and Ralph's Ambition.
- Sanctuary of Solitude (L35): Look out for Lonesome and Pentagram Astrolabe.
- Silver Sands' End (L44): Look out for Howling Wind, Marksman Bracers and Endless Night - Prototype.
- Hall of Grandiosity (L54): Here you should farm to level 60 to reach your next Hero Trait before completing the campaign.
AUTHORS NOTE: Wind Chasers are a great item that allow you to use Aim without suffering the movement speed penalty. Setting you movement speed to 130% also prevents you from using Blurry Steps. Replace Blurry Steps with Aim and use Blink Bow to move around if you are comfortable with the playstyle.
Leveling Tips and Tricks
- Your first active skill slot (top left in the Skills menu) is your "Main Skill," this matters because many items and Hero Traits have effects that only apply to the Main Skill.
- If you're ever in doubt of where to go, click the campaign quest on the left of your screen and a golden path shows you the way.
- This guide assumes you get most of your levels through Treasure Troves and rush to the objectives in other zones for maximum efficiency.
- When allocating Pact Points, prioritize Life first, then select Damage nodes until you fill the section. If you have leftover points, put them into Drop nodes as you begin farming the Netherrealm.
- Complete all 10 Levels of the Hero Forge to unlock all of your Hero Trait abilities and gain 6 additional Talent Points.
- All support gems become available from the Skill Shop at level 55. At this stage cross reference with the embeds to make sure you're set up for the Netherrealm.
- In Chapter 3 gear you find comes with varying amounts of Energy, after changing your gear, be sure to go to the Energy Menu under Skills to reassign missing Energy.
Equipment & Stat Priorities
Look for these Offensive stats on weapons:
- Physical Damage to Attacks
- Fire/Lightning/Cold Damage to Attacks
- Projectile Damage
- Attack Speed
- Critical Strike Rating
- Critical Damage
Look for these Defensive stats on armor:
- Max Life
- Life %
- Erosion Resistances
- Elemental Resistances
- -x% Additional Physical Damage Taken
Core Skill
- Lightning Shot is a Lightning Damage projectile skill that converts all of the skills Physical Damage to Lightning Damage. It benefits greatly from increased Quantity of projectiles and Jumps.
- Centralized Loading combined with Blurry Steps is the primary method of travelling through zones quickly. Centralized Loading grants 2 additional projectiles after use and also reloads ammo due to Deep Into the Danger.
- Use Compound Source to quickly regenerate Life and Mana whenever needed. Limber Stretch also grants a large movement speed bonus, use it liberally in combination with Blurry Steps to zip around.
- Burst of Anger grants a large additional Attack Speed multiplier that resets upon killing an enemy. Focus on maintaining this buff as close to 100% of the time as possible.
Leveling Progression
WARNING: The following levels are a guideline, you might complete the quest/unlock the Skill a few levels early, or a few levels later!
Use the Embed to the left to follow along with Support Skill progression!
- Level 1: Support Lightning Shot with Multiple Projectiles.
Equip the following as you obtain them:
- Level 3: Support Compound Potion with Residues
- Blink Bow is the fastest mobility option. It is a very divisive skill as it requires you to aim behind you character. If you do not like this playstyle; replace it with Centralized Loading.
- Level 7-11: Support Lightning Shot with Wind Projectiles.
- Level 12-16: Equip Arrow Einherjar.
- Level 20: You unlock access to all of your Active Skills.
- Replace Arrow Einherjar with Blurry Steps.
- Equip Burst of Anger
- If you are sticking with Blink Bow; replace Blurry Steps with Aim.
- Level 22: Support Lightning Shot with Added Physical Damage.
- Level 26-54: Continue filling out supports on your utility skills. Now, the goal is to slowly add on Supports and Auras as you gain Energy and levels.
Level 55: At this point you have access to every skill in the game, continue to follow the embed shown as you gain more Energy.

Talents
God of Hunting
Start by allocating 24 points in this tree, the - Skill Cost nodes are important later when you start using Passive Skills.
Marksman
This tree provides 2 very powerful Major Talents; Gale and Three Birds with One Stone. The later option now provides additional damage per added projectile which synergizes greatly with your Shotgun Effect.
Bladerunner
This final tree grants Multistrike synergies and a massive amount of attack speed from Static.
There are tons of different Talent Trees to explore, if you want to learn more about this robust system check out our Talent Tree Guide.
Traits, Relics and Memories
Hero Traits
Level 45: Dart Shot grants a bonus to all your Projectile Damage for 2 seconds after using a Mobility Skill. So make sure to spam your Blink when fighting enemies.
Level 75: Lethal Interval grants a buff after using a mobility skill which greatly increases your Shotgun Effect.
Level 90: Overheating grants a stacking damage buff for each ammo you have consumed recently. Desperate Measure does provide massive damage bonuses for Lethal Flash but it has anti-synergy with this build.
Note: The newly reworked Lethal Interval may affect Arrow Einherjar but this needs further testing!
Relics and Memories
Look for any combination of the following stats on your Hero Relics and Memories;
Hero Relic | Hero Memories |
+ Projectile Quantity each time you use a Mobility Skill | Additional Damage after using Mobility Skill |
Additional Damage after using a Mobility Skill | Critical Strike Damage / Rating |
Critical Strike Rating | % Movement Speed |
Crit Damage for every Additional Projectile | Mobility Skill Charges |
To learn more, check out our Hero Relic and Hero Memory Guide.
Divinity Slates
After defeating the Steel Forge Timemark 3 Watcher and completing the Netherrealm quest you unlock the Divinity Slate Talents. These can be farmed from different forms of content, but primarily drop from the Cube of Rapacity. Look to brand Divinity Slates with the following nodes;
Micro and Medium Talents | Legendary Talents |
Attack Speed | Shock Damage Settles and additional time |
Maximum Life | - Additional Damage taken |
Critical Strike Rating | +1 Lightning Skill Level |
Critical Strike Damage | +1 All Skill Levels |
Projectile Speed | +1 Jumps |
Pacts

The Netherrealm
Racing through your Netherrealm quests as quickly as possible results in you becoming under leveled for the required zones to progress further, stay within 3 levels of the zones you're completing to avoid a harsh experience penalty. Check out our How to Progress the Netherrealm if you're unsure of anything.
Here's a list of things to do while progressing the early stages of the Netherrealm;
- Level 60, The Trade House is unlocked. Be sure to read and understand our Trade House for Beginners Guide before making any big purchases.
- Higher item levels of gear come with higher quantities of Energy. Look to improve your current gear with items that have increased Energy so that you can use more Support Skills.
- Utilize Prototype Crafting and Enchanting to greatly increase the power of gear you come across. It costs very low amounts of Flame Sand to lock 1 good affix in place and reroll up to 4 new modifiers. Legendary Gear with Legendary Aptitude allows you to roll mods and craft on those items well.
Legendary Items
Leveling
- The Pentagram Astrolabe grants a large amount of Flat Damage to your Active Skills.
- Shadow of Thunderlight's Touch is a great bow for Lightning damage builds. It is a special drop from Ordrak in Chapter 3: Rusted Abyss.
- The Desperate Measures prototype memory will provide a substantial damage increase but causes you to wait until you're fully reloaded between attacks.
- 2x Wiping Family Silver Bullet and Tina's Withered Flower combined with the Prototype memory results in 1 attack every 1.4 seconds that does significant damage.
Set Items
As you complete the Netherrealm you encounter Chaos Cards that provide a Set Item. These items are very powerful at a base, and provide powerful set bonuses. Be sure to farm the following Voyager's Commemorative Set Items;
- Voyager's Commemorative Boots
- Voyager's Commemorative Brooch
- Voyager's Commemorative Cape
- Voyager's Commemorative Cufflinks
- Voyager's Commemorative Goggles
- Voyager's Commemorative Pinky Ring
