Longbow / Crossbow Leveling Build Guide

Last Updated:October 4, 2024|Change Log

Welcome to the Longbow / Crossbow Leveling Build Guide! Leveling with this weapon combination feels pretty smooth thanks to having multiple skills for sustain alongside additional cooldown reduction skills!

Longbow / Crossbow leveling is very similar to its normal PvE combos due to having access to so many core skills early on. Rotating between multiple damage skills with low cooldowns such as Strafing, Zephyr's Nock, and Quick Fire ensures there's always a DPS skill to use! With so many "Attack" skills, Crossbow's passive skill Bloodlust Stack helps to increase your DPS even further!

You also have access to an incredible AoE skill, Annihilation Barrage Shot. With Mother Nature's Protest's Skill Specialization "Lightning Arrow" you deal a high amount of damage, but at the cost of high Mana consumption.

Pros
  • Low Cooldowns
  • High Mana Sustain
  • High Single Target DPS
Cons
  • Lower Survivability
  • Needs Range to increase DPS

Stat Priorities

Use the following Stat Priority when following the Longbow / Crossbow Leveling Build Guide:

  • Level 1 - 21
    • 20 Dexterity
  • Level 22 - 41
    • 20 Strength
  • Level 42 - 50
    • 9 Wisdom

You have 49 Stat Points you can freely allocate to any of the 4 primary Stats. Once you put 20 points into an individual Stat, it takes 2 points to increase the Stat by 1. These Stats gain additional bonuses when reaching breakpoints at 30, 40, 50, and 60. Do not put more than 20 points into a Stat unless necessary for specific stat breakpoints. Resetting your Stat Points is completely free so feel free to reset and change whenever you feel it's necessary.

PvE Content is a bit easier because the goal is to get the highest Maximum Weapon Damage, Attack Speed, and Critical Hit possible. Dexterity is the main stat you increase to maximize your damage in PvE.

After upgrading your Green Gear, the goal is to reach 30 Strength and 30 Dexterity. Allocate your remaining Stat Points into Wisdom. Leveling with Longbow / Crossbow doesn't require points in Perception for Hit because of the Eagle Vision Crossbow Passive.

Key Leveling Notes

  • Focus on the Main Story Quest as you level to 50 first.
    • If the Main Story Quest requires a higher level to continue, then complete Exploration Codex Quests for additional EXP.
  • Before leaving Kastleton during Chapter 3, craft as much Green Gear as possible!
  • When your story quests introduce you to Resistance Contracts, be sure to choose ones that give Quality Lithograph: Accessories first!
  • Completing Rustic Mother Nature Rings early, grants the ability to use Lethal Fortune Ring while leveling.

Gear Progression

Gear used while leveling doesn't affect the leveling process much, so long as all the gear is upgraded.

Towards Chapter 3, you start to get quests to craft items. Before heading to Urstella Fields, first make sure to craft all the Green Items possible. You should have 2 Green Weapons, 3 Green Armor pieces, and at least 2 Green Accessories. After Chapter 4 you have enough to craft the rest, finally having a full set of Green Gear for the rest of the leveling process. Here are the recommended Items to craft.

  • Open with Ensnaring Arrow and Mortal Mark before any DPS skills to increase your total damage output.
  • After using Mortal Mark, use Selfless Diffusion in combination with multi-hit skills such as Quick Fire and Strafing to extend the duration of the mark.
  • Use Strafing to apply stacks of Gale and follow up with Zephyr's Nock to consume the Gale stacks for increased damage.
  • Use Annihilation Barrage Shot for large groups of mobs but be careful as it eats up your Mana when combined with Mother Nature's Protest.

Skill Priority Upgrade

  • This is a general list of skills used across all forms of content that's recommended to upgrade.
    • Should there be a skill here that you don't ever plan to use in your build, skip it.
  • Use Quality Skill Growth Books to upgrade your skills from Green to Blue in the order shown below. Once all skills below are Green, use the rest on other skills used in the builds above.
  • Use Rare Skill Growth Books to upgrade your skills from Blue to Purple in the order shown below. Once all skills below are Blue, use the rest on other skills used in the builds above.
  • Prioritize getting all these skills to blue first before getting them to purple. These are universal skills you always use.
  • Upgrade the rest of your skills as you play the game.
